KG — returned their workers to full-time status, ending short-time working schedules, as the global machinery market began to improve. Camden Electronics has introduced an exciting new range of UK-manufactured snap-fit DIN rail enclosures sporting a wide variety of enhancements and improvements over the company's existing boxes and competing products. The enhancements and improvements result in a highly versatile DIN rail enclosure that can be adapted by users to meet almost any conceivable requirement. Unlike competitive products, Camden's new patent-pending DIN rail mounting enclosures are fully UL94V0 flame retardant as they are moulded in polycarbonate instead of Noryl and other lower grade materials. Seven versions are available offering lengths of 17.5, 36, 53, 71, 89, 106 and 160mm all 90mm wide. Offering greater versatility, Camden's new design features a number of enhancements to make mounting of PCBs easier. These include PCB guides to ensure boards are held in place firmly and moulded screw holes in the base to facilitate mounting of PCBs with heavier components such as relays or transformers. Up to three PCBs can be mounted horizontally while there are four mounting positions for vertical boards. A further enhancement is that the enclosure base is fully sealed with none of the holes that are found on competing products. This avoids the need for any insulating pads and reduces assembly costs for users. The design of the enclosure is such that all tabs on the body have been eliminated to avoid small lugs that might break off. Standard colour is grey (RAL 7035) although Camden can supply mouldings in black, green, red or blue for volume orders. In addition, the company can incorporate ventilation slots in its tooling for volume customers to avoid the need for machining by the end user. Besides reducing costs for the end user this facility also results in a stronger moulding compared to a similar enclosure with machined ventilation slots. A range of standard snap-in panel covers in grey, transparent red or clear is available with a new polarisation feature that ensures correct mounting. The enclosures can also be supplied with a moulded top panel that can be screen printed and also enables the transparent red or clear snap-in panels to be mounted with a label underneath for example. Additional special features include snap-on terminal covers to IP20 finger protection with perforated screwdriver and wire entry holes and tabs as standard and spring loaded DIN rail clips that can be snapped open to allow chassis/surface mounting. Conn.-based Panolam Industries International, parent to Auburn's Pioneer Plastics, a manufacturer of laminates, has reached a tentative agreement with shareholders to let the company shed $151 million in debt. Panolam, which bought Pioneer Plastics in 1999, posted $121 million in net losses in 2008 and $10 million in losses for the first quarter of 2009, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission as reported by the Sun Journal. Citing the downturn in the housing industry, Pioneer Plastics laid off 48 employees - about 16% of its local work force - at the Auburn plant in December. Shareholders filed a default notice in February.
